The glitter is set into the fabric rather than dusted over the surface, so it stays where it belongs and does not come off on your clothes. You can carry one against a black dress or hand them out to bridesmaids in satin without a second thought. Most of these are FSC certified wood or bamboo ribs with a polyester glitter fabric. The metallic lettered fans work differently: the shine is in the lettering, on the same FSC certified wood and 75 percent recycled cotton and polyester we use on our printed fans.
Glitter and holographic fabrics are firm when new. A few gentle opens and closes and it eases up, which is worth doing the day before an event rather than during one. Outdoors the brighter colors do the most work: fuchsia and orange hold their color in full sun, while black goes quiet and gold reads more subtle. Under strobes and stage lighting the holographic finishes come into their own.
